Favorite Halloween(ish) Movies:

Jessica & I used to watch these when we’d spend the night with my Grandma. We’d always stay up way too late, too.
I don’t do scary movies.

In Minnesota we stayed at the Sofitel Minneapolis, where I fell in love with the comped L’Occitane Verbena Body Lotion. It’s the first lotion that I’ve ever used that’s not sticky!
I had to buy some for my mom.
I finally went to the Mall of America! It seemed like it would be such a cool place when I was younger. My favorite purchases were a sheep skin throw - shown here in our hotel room.

And my over-the-knee camel boots, shown here with an H&M sweater dress. (I’ll post a full view of the boots when I wear them for reals.)

We went to a wedding reception for one of Ian’s friends in Minneapolis, Minnesota, this weekend. They had a destination wedding in St. Lucia and a big party when they got back.
For a fall wedding in Minnesota, boots were a must. Glasses, not so much.
Ian & me leaving the hotel for the rehearsal dinner at the Minnesota wedding reception on Friday.

We had a huge Italian meal that started with focaccia and this fabulous olive oil Parmesan mixture for dipping. Yes, I ordered two waters, as flying always dehydrates me.

A badge of honor
Potbelly Sugar Cookies!
For the summer of 2003 my cousin and BFF, Jessica, lived in Branson and danced in a Neil Diamond-themed show. I spent a week visiting her and must have watched the show at least three times. (The result: I’m a closet Neil Diamond fan.)
Mid-week, Jessica’s car broke down in the middle of the Branson Strip on a hot July morning. I was wearing jeans and alone, in a strange city with no one to call. Some kind man helped me push her car off the road, and I almost ran it into the Country Kitchen. After Jess got out of rehearsal, we had to walk home on the side of a hilly Missouri road in our flip flops with purses, bags and the contents of the car on both shoulders.
At the end of the week our whole family came down and we spent the time boating on Table Rock Lake. My dad and I did a 5k on the Fourth of July. We went to Silver Dollar City. We played mini golf and went to the water park. This is when all of us kids were in our 20s. We had such a great time on that spontaneous trip. The best part was that my Grandma Carol was there too, one of the last times she would be.
I miss having free time to just be girls, with our shopping sprees that take all afternoon, spending the day laying out by the pool, making cookie dough at midnight, and staying up late whispering about boys.
Finally! An official sighting - the first since 1904. I knew they were here.
