I have always loved markers, crayons, colored pencils, paints, chalk, and I had about every box Crayola came out with. But what us coloring buddies loved most were these professional paint brush markers. See that red on the left, it makes for the most perfect Ariel hair, and the green, and purple, well, if you are a mermaid fan, you know where I’m going with this. When we used these markers, we were real artists.
Last week, while I was cleaning out old drawers at the ad agency I work at, I found some of these markers that real designers used back in the olden days of adland.
They are now on my desk. And I dug these out for home use as well.
Computers might be how it’s done now, but I still believe in the power of the (colored) pen.

Spring 2012 Pantone Colors
Now that it’s 2012, it feels more appropriate to talk about spring’s upcoming colors.
I’m sticking with my traditional yellow love (Goldenrod, Lemon, Citrine, Mustard, Beeswax, etc.) and voting Solar Power as my fave.
Winter Night Sky
Winter is a challenging season. There is one thing I like about it though, and that is the smell and feeling of a crisp winter night under a bluing night sky.
Cold, dark, deep, mysterious and at the same time full of brightness and comfort.
I have a suede cobalt bag that was my grandma’s. She loved velvet and Elvis - blue, suede and shoes. These colors - cobalt, blue, in velvet and suede - of the night sky we would always see when leaving her house on a December evening while snow twinkled below, are for her and those winter nights.
Color of the Day: Heliotrope
I love learning a new color. I found this one in a book - 19th & early 20th century novels are a good place to find old fashioned colors like cerise, viridian, aubergine, garnet.
Anyone know of any others?
The Colors of Thanksgiving
One Thanksgiving past, captured in a photo with my Utah cousins, I wore a shirt of these colors. It’s since been stained & given away, but the colors from it capture what I’m always after in a Thanksgiving outfit.
