I’m reading Beautiful Days, the second book in the Bright Young Things series, set in the 1920s, and this shoe sums up the plush, smooth art deco visuals of the book perfectly.
i love this shoe. it is hideous and wonderful at the same time. the bulbous heel saves it from twee-ness and the glitter saves it from super-seriousness. divine peach.

When my sis-in-law Anna told me about the awesomeness of Martha Stewart’s glitter collection, I had to check it out.
Martha has once again outdone herself. The collection is amazing, and available at my local Michaels.

I especially love this 24 pack, which includes these gorgeous gemstone colors: Crystal Fine, Hematite, Onyx, Brownstone, Copper, Smoky Quartz, Florentine Gold, Yellow Barite, Sterling, Feldspar, Aquamarine Crystal, Turquoise, Lapis Lazuli, Peridot, Verdelite, Golden Beryl, Fire Opal, Carnelian, Cinnabar, Garnet, Tourmaline, Kunzite, Charoite, and Purple Sapphire.
The glitters even come in different textures like tinsel-cut, microbead, iridescent, flocking powder, fine powder, and shapes like hearts & stars, again with fabulous names. (Fennel!)
Here is an example of several types:

If that’s not enough, Martha’s 2010 Holiday Cookies magazine includes a recipe for these Glitter Ball Cookies.

I will so be making them this holiday season. They even match my Christmas decor.
Now, to find a glitter project…
